Clipper Volleyball Heads to YSCC Playoffs

After finishing their regular season with a 5-7 conference record, the UMM Women's Volleyball
team will travel to Paul Smiths College to compete in the YSCC playoffs on Sunday, October 21.
The Clippers are led by seniors Colleen Kostovick and Kalyn Otto. Colleen helped to anchor a
Clipper defense that ranks #2 in the conference in Blocks. She finished second in the conference
with 40 Solo Blocks. She also ranks third on the team and ninth in the conference in Kills with
66. Kalyn Otto finished fourth in the conference in Digs with 229, fifth in Assists with 113, and,
despite her diminutive size, finished the season with 2 Blocks.

Sophomore Caitlyn Reynolds led the team and is third in the conference with 231 Digs.
The Clippers also have three key Freshman contributors. Reigning YSCC Player of the Week,
Alexis Prescott leads the team with 81 Kills. She is followed by fellow freshman Shawna Monk
with 80 Kills. Alexis and Shawna combined for 46 Blocks, with them finishing 3rd and 5th in the
conference, respectively. Rounding out the Clippers Freshman class is Reese Thompson, who led the team with 46
Service Aces and finished second on the team with 107 Assists.

UMM will take on NHTI at 10:00 on Sunday in 1st Round action. NHTI finished first in the
conference at 11 – 1. Caroline Smith (1), Shannon Armstrong (4), and Malory Caronis (5), all
finished in the top 5 in the conference in Kills and Kayla Galipeault lead the conference with a
whopping 413 Assists.

NHTI took both regular season matches with UMM. UMM hopes to build upon their
performance against NHTI on Oct 14 when they lost a thrilling 3 – 2 match.
