The University of Maine at Machias Women's Soccer team returned to the pitch for the 2019 season and defeated Bryant & Stratton – Albany 5-0 to open the season on a winning note.
Sophomore Amber Chasse led the way, scoring the team's first four goals, and assisting on the final goal. Amber got the Clippers on the board less than 4 minutes into the match on her way to a first half hat trick.
Sophomore Elana Lancia finished up the scoring with her first goal of the year, fifth thus far in her career.
Freshman Malyssa Kubik earned a shutout in her first college start, recording 14 saves along the way.
Next up for the Clippers are the Husson University Eagles on Saturday, Sep 7, at 4:00pm in Bangor, ME. Husson will come into the match at 0-1 after falling 3-0 to St. Joseph's of Maine. This will be the first match up between the Clippers and the Eagles since 2015 when Husson defeated UMM 2-1 in overtime.
