(Unity, ME) The lady Clippers season started off in a disapointing way, losing their opening game 3-2 on overtime to Unity College. The Clippers controlled the game for most of the first half but were unable to score despite outshooting Unity 11-4.
The Clippers were finally able to get on the board in the second half when Erin O'Connor put the ball past the Unity keeper. Unity responded just a few minute later to even the score at 1-1. Jess Rubin put the Clippers ahead with 12 minutes left in the game, but the Clippers defense gave Unity too many chances and they finally evened the score with just a few seconds remaining in regulation.
Six minutes into overtime, Unity took a shot from 35 yards out that chipped the Clippers keeper and sealed them the win. Despite outshooting Unity 29-12, the Clippers fall to 0-1 on the season and 0-1 in the Yankee Conference.
