Tough start to the season for Volleyball

The University of Maine at Machias volleyball played two matches on Saturday against the Bobcats of Paul Smith's College and the Fighting Saints of St Joseph College. The Clippers lost the first game to the Bobcats 3-1. The Clippers lost the first two sets 25-15 and 25-17 but came back to win the third set 25-22. They were ultimately defeated in the fourth set by a score of 25-20. Alexis Prescott led the team with 11 kills with senior Colleen Kostovick with 10. The next game saw the Clippers defeat the Fighting Saints 3-1. The Clippers won the first two sets 25-18 and 25-19 and the fourth set 25-20. The games this weekend bring the Clippers to a 2-4 record on the season.

The Clippers volleyball team were defeated by the Green Mountain College Eagles in three sets on Sunday in what proved to be a dominant win by the Eagles. Green Mountain won 25-16, 25-9, and 25-12. Shawna Monk led the team with 2 kills while both Alexis Prescott and Colleen Kostovick finished with 1 kill. After Sunday's game the Clippers fell to 2-5 on the season. The

On Tuesday the Clipper fell to rival Husson Eagles. The Eagles swept the match taking all 3 sets. First year outside hitter Shawna Monk led the team with 5 kills on the day, Kalyn Otto and Alexis Prescott had 2 kills apiece. The sets finished 25-13, 25-19 and 25-14.
