Rick Lupo is in his second year as the head women's basketball coach. Entering his first year as head coach, Rick was faced with the challenge of creating a team. With only 3 players returning he had some serious recruiting to do. Rick met that challenge head on and recruited 5 more players. In spite of playing with as few as 5 players at times (due to injuries) his team still qualified for the Elite 8 tournament.
Rick started playing basketball at Pinkerton Academy in Derry, New Hampshire before moving to Maine and attending Washington Academy. Rick attended and played basketball at UMM while pursuing his degree in Sports and fitness Management.
Rick has spent his early coaching career helping out at camps, the most recent being camp Takajo in Naples, Maine. He also coached freshman and JV girls at Washington Academy as well as being the assistant coach of the varsity team. Rick got his start coaching college ball as the interim Head men's basketball coach here at UMM, where he took the team to the Elite 8 playoffs in 2013.
Having ben born and raised in New England, Rick is a die hard Boston fan. Rick has a passion for all sports and loves the way it brings people from all walks of life together.
