The University of Maine at Machias' Cross Country Teams just wrapped up another successful season. There was a mix of youth and returners, led by Paige Wiechman and Sully Jackson, both of whom competed at the USCAA National Championships in New York. The Clippers had a new face to lead them this year. Coach Rick Lupo took on the responsibility of managing both the men and women. At the national championships, Wiechman placed 14th with a mile pace of 6:50, putting a strong finish to a second team All-American season. She also garnered National All-Academic honors. On the men's side, freshman Jackson placed 58th out of 186 runners at Nationals, with a time of 31:14. His mile pace was 6:18. Both Clipper runners endured snowy, wintery conditions and a muddy course to represent UMM in a big way on a national stage. Congrats to Clippers XC on a great season!
