Clippers YSCC Tournament Champions

It was a great weekend for Clipper Basketball!  The Clippers were seeded 5th and started out the weekend taking on 4th seeded UMA.  Ben Teer led the team with 27 points and 6 rebounds and Travonne Thompson hauled in 17 rebounds.  The final score was: Clippers 66-, UMA Moose 56.  The win advanced the Clippers to take on the #1 seeded St. Joseph Saints.  This was an amazing game to watch. With 6 lead changes and 5 tie scores, and no team leading by more than 6 at any time, it could have gone either way.  The Clippers, under the guidance of Coach Troy Alley, pulled it all together in the end and pulled out the victory, 69-66, behind Ben Teer's 18 points and Ivory Sneed's 27 points and 9 rebounds.  Travonne Thompson came up with a huge night, pulling in 20 rebounds.  This means the team was now in the finals of the Yankee Small College Conference Tournament and would face off against the #2 seed home team CMCC Mustangs.  Both teams came out strong and CMCC would lead by as much as 11 points in the 2nd half.  But the Clippers would not be denied.  They rallied behind Ben Teer's 18 points, Travonne Thompson's 8 points and 16 rebounds and Dexter Moore's 13 points and 5 rebounds at critical times to pull off their third upset in as many days to defeat the home team, 75-70 and claim the title!  This is the first Yankee Small College Conference Tournament Title for the Clippers!  The Clippers will now wait to see where they are seeded on Tuesday, February, 2/23, for the USCAA National Tournament!
