Machias, ME - The men's basketball team at the University of Maine at Machias defeated the Central Maine Mustangs 97-84 in a Sunday afternoon game at the Reynolds Center. The win is the fifth in a row for the Clippers.
The Clippers saw three players score double figures led by Ben Teer with 24 points. Teer was 9-9 from the field including 5 three point baskets. Antwan Ruise netted 21 points and grabbed 12 rebounds and Floyd Higgins scored 19 points. Dreu Johnson tallied 10 assists for the Clippers. The Mustangs were led by Carrington Miller with 15 points, Xavier Colbert 14 points and Jeremy Suero with 12 points.
Coach Brac Brady commented, "I am proud of the progress the team has made. We are sharing the ball really well and are finding the open man. We are also getting tougher mentally as we withstood several runs by Central Maine."
The win puts the Clippers in a second place tie in the Eastern side of the Yankee Conference standings at 7-3. The Clippers return to action on Wednesday traveling to the University of Maine at Augusta for a 7:30 pm tip.
