The University of Maine at Machias held its third annual Hall of Fame induction ceremony over Homecoming Weekend, September 27-29th.This is always a very special time, and it was made even more unique this year, as instead of solely individuals being honored, the entire team from the 1990-91 basketball season were inducted. Their year is now forever remembered on the banner hanging from the wall of the Reynolds Center. This team was a standout both on the court, including memorable games against Husson University as well as a trip to the national tournament to face the number one ranked team in the country, and in the classroom. On hand to celebrate and accept their plaques were several members of the team, as in addition to players there was also the assistant coach and sports writer who covered the team. Following the ceremony, the current Women's and Men's basketball teams competed against the alumni in two scrimmages, giving the graduated players another opportunity to play on their home court. Also being inducted into the Hall of Fame were Carroll LaHaye and Fran Plunkett Robinson. LaHaye played both basketball and volleyball at UMM before embarking on a successful coaching career at Randolph-Macon College. There she recently surpassed her 500thvictory. Robinson was a standout athlete at San Francisco State University before becoming both the Volleyball and women's basketball coach at Umm.
