Machias, ME - The University of Maine at Machias men's basketball team extended it's win streak to 4 games Sunday afternoon beating Central Maine Community College 73-53.
The Clippers came out with strong defense holding the Mustangs to just 32% from the field in the first half. The strong play from the Clippers led to a 39-23 lead at the half. The Clippers were led by Zach Armstrong with 20 points including 4-6 from the three point line. Freshman David Mendez had a strong performance scoring 13 points and dishing out 3 assists without committing a turnover. Jeremy Tolbert and Hampton Mack each reached double figures with 11 and 10 respectively. Mack led all players in rebounds with 15. Will Lewis led the way in assists with 7.
The visiting Mustangs were led by Nick Hinkley with 16 points.
Coach Brac Brady was pleased with the Clippers effort, "We are starting to understand the team concepts and execute them on both ends of the court. It is showing up in the stats as our shooting percentages and numbers of assists are going up. We have also committed ourselves to playing harder on the defensive end. I am excited about what the future holds for this group."
The Clippers return to action on Monday, December 19 at the University of Maine at Augusta. The game will be played at the Augusta Civic Center and will tip at 4 pm.
